Direction for use

For best results, start using Mederma® for Kids as soon as their wound has healed. Do not apply to broken skin. Make sure the scab has come off naturally and any stitches have been removed. On older scars you may start using Mederma for Kids immediately. Continue using once daily for at least 8 weeks on new scars and 3-6 months on older scars.

Generally, Mederma® for Kids users start to see noticeable improvement after about 4 weeks of daily usage, with optimum improvement in 8 weeks.

Does Mederma® for Kids stain fabrics?

Like many non-staining products, Mederma for Kids will not stain cotton or polyester material or blends. But it could stain delicate fabrics, including silk, leather, suede and others.

Can Mederma® for Kids be used for atrophic scars?

It’s possible to use Mederma for Kids on atrophic scars, such as acne and chicken pox scars for 3 year olds and older. It may help to smooth and soften the edges of the pox mark. However, it won’t cause the indented area to fill in. By smoothing the edges, the mark may become less noticeable.

My child has a chicken pox scar, will Mederma for Kids help?

My child has just had surgery and still has stitches – when can they start using Mederma® for Kids?

You can begin using Mederma for Kids as soon as your child’s wound has healed. Mederma is not intended for use on open wounds. If a scab has formed, wait until it falls off. While there is still a scab present, keep the wound clean and covered.

Who should use Mederma® for Kids?

Although anyone can use Mederma for Kids, it was specifically formulated for use on those aged 3 and above. It has a scent and purple colour that goes clear when you rub it in. All Mederma products should be used as directed. If you are unsure if Mederma is right for your child, please contact a healthcare professional for advice.

How long should I use Mederma® for Kids?

For optimal results, use the product as directed and apply Mederma for Kids 3 times a day, every day, for 8 weeks on new scars and 3 times a day, every day for 3 to 6 months on old scars. You can use Mederma for Kids on children aged 3 and above. Massage gently until the product is absorbed. If peeling or flaking occurs, you may be using too much. Try using less of the product to achieve the best possible result. When using Mederma for Kids, do not apply it to broken skin.

Is Mederma for Kids safe to be used around the eye area (of an infant?)

Mederma is intended for use on the skin once a wound has healed and only for children 3 years and above. It is not for use in mucosal areas such as eyes, in the mouth, in nose or internally. We recommend that before applying Mederma for Kids close to these sensitive areas you consult with a healthcare professional.
